White rabbit door hanger

Hi there, design elf Katrina here to show you a lovely project to make using the new MDF door hangers from Creative Expressions and the one of the Alice in Wonderland stamp sets from Visible Image.

To begin with I painted the blank MDF door hanger with Cosmic shimmer matt chalk warm white paint and left it to dry. I then put a coat of Tim Holtz Distress paint in cracked pistachio on top. Just a tip about this distress paint, it is very thin but if you take your time and don't put too much on at once you can get a nice even coat.

To give the background a bit of interest I used the Cosmic Shimmer warm white paint again with the Visible image grunge background and then the Visible Image plasma stamps. It is fine to use paint on your stamps, use a cosmetic sponge to dab the paint evenly over the stamp and stamp as normal. Just make sure you wash the paint off of them immediately afterwards or at the least wipe as much off as you can with an acid free baby wipe if you can't get to a sink till later. I keep an old toothbrush and just run them under the tap and give them a bit of a scrub with the brush, leave them to air dry and they are good to go again. As you can see these stamps stamped beautifully with the paint.

I then stamped the white rabbit out in Ranger Archival black ink and coloured him in and cut him out, well my silhouette did it really but that's another story!!. I added some Glossy accents to his watch, I used the crackle one but you can use the normal one and just bend the paper when it is dry which will make it crack too.

I also stamped the 2 other stamps in the set onto a couple of shapes I cut on my silhouette and matted them onto black card. You could use a die or just cut them out by hand.

For the pocket watch stamp I used the Artistic Stamper time and keys set to stamp my watch and then cut it out.

To finish off I cut a piece of diamond boarder from a Ranger strip die of my own in black and used Woodwares white opaque pen to add some doodles. I also went around the outside of the door hanger with a black pen and hung a clock charm using a couple of jump rings from some white ribbon tied in a bow.

So there we have it, one white rabbit door hanger! A really fun simple project to do. It would make a great present or a nice project to do with the children for their bedroom doors. The pack comes with 2 MDF door hangers, so what shall I do with the other???

What ever you do with yours have fun!
